Aftercare & Prevention
Live lice of any size will be immobilized and suffocate during the conditioner and reduction combing treatment. However, it is possible for a nit to evade detection if they are extremely close to the scalp or attached in a hard-to-reach place. To ensure any missed nits are not allowed to mature and reproduce, it is very important to follow these instructions.
1. Eliminate lice from your environment: Vacuum carpets, furniture, and areas where infested persons spend a lot of time, such as car seats or play areas, to ensure no mature lice return to the hair.
2. Eliminate lice from personal items: Machine wash and dry, using the hot cycle, clothing, bed linens, and any other items used or worn by an infested person within the last two days. Don't overlook items such as hats, coats, towels. Soak hair clips and elastics, brushes, combs, etc in hot water for 20 minutes, or freeze them in a sealed plastic bag overnight.
3. Ensure no nits or new hatchlings mature: The timing of the first two follow ups matter because of the life cycle of head lice. Follow up treatments will ensure the lifecycle is broken and no lice reproduce.
♦ Five to seven days after the initial treatment, saturate hair with a thick coating of conditioner, then gently comb through with the provided lice comb. This can be done in the bath or shower.
♦ Ten to fourteen days after the initial treatment repeat above instructions.
4. Prevention: People at risk of continued exposure can prevent infestations from taking hold by using the lice comb with conditioner during a bath or shower once a week.
